Wandering Comma
Interactive Invitation

For this project we were asked to create an interactive invitation for an artist’s museum exhibition. I chose the photographer Ryan McGinley and his series of photos titled ‘Wandering Comma’ which were exhibited at the Alison Jacques Gallery in London. I was inspired by the movement and freedom in McGinley’s work, as well as the shape of a comma, which led me to create a sort of mobile invitation. I decided to vary the size of the commas and cropping of the images in order to make each piece of the larger invitation unique. The images are all from McGinley’s show, but have been inverted and cropped as to not give too much away. The text has also been spread out amongst the commas in order to make it more interactive.

My photographs are about removal: bringing people to nondescript locations, to places that aren't recognizable, removing their clothes, capturing them with a very limited style palette. I try to think about how timelessness, isolation, and style interact.
